Substitute Pre-school Teacher


Position Description:

The primary responsibility of the Pre-school Teacher is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that encourages children to learn and grow.

Qualifications

  • 12 ECE units completed (that cover the general areas of child growth and development, or human growth and development; child, family and community, or child and family; and program/curriculum)
  • BA preferred
  • CPR & First Aid certified
  • 6 months of related experience

Essential Responsibilities

  • Greet children, parents and staff in a friendly manner.
  • Plan, supervise and implement a stimulating program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school.
  • Treat children with dignity and respect.
  • Be responsible for all mealtime activities of the group.
  • Perform regular observations and assessments on all children and record observations on a skills and behavior checklist.
  • Encourage children to develop friendships and interact with peers in a positive manner.
  • Make the safety and well being of students your top priority by maintaining ratio and removing the children from any potentially dangerous situation.
  • Maintain a child-oriented classroom that demonstrates an awareness of the development stages of each child.
  • Share ideas and collaborate with other teachers.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, workshops, in-service training and all school events.
  • Keep director informed of all problem areas, concerns and progress throughout the program.
  • Keep classroom, resource and playground areas clean and in order.
  • Assume an equal share in all responsibilities of the staff.
  • Demonstrate Godly character at all times.

Salary/Compensation

This is an on-call position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
