Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, School of Theological Studies
Position Description
Successful candidates will have a proven background in pastoral ministry and demonstrated competence in teaching a wide range of courses in such areas as church leadership, practical theology, and biblical preaching. Candidates should be willing to function in a mentoring role for students in the University's Church Leadership program and should help shape the spiritual life of the campus community. The position may include the development and administrative oversight of the University's incipient Center for Ministry Studies.
Qualifications
- Terminal degree with significant teaching and pastoral experience preferred; candidates with a master's degree plus extensive pastoral and teaching experience and/or those at the dissertation stage in doctoral programs considered. Any applicant without a terminal degree must be willing to enter a doctoral program in the desired field (with professional development assistance from the University).
- Pastoral/ministerial experience within the Assemblies of God.
- Ministerial credentials with the Assemblies of God or the willingness/ability to procure credentials as soon as possible.
- Expertise to develop the University's Center for Ministry Studies in conjunction with other faculty in the School of Theological Studies, the University Provost, and representatives from the Northern California and Nevada District of the Assemblies of God.
- Desire to work with undergraduate students of all ages and backgrounds.
- Willingness to model the core values and stated outcomes of Bethany University.
- Computer skills applicable to the development of instructional systems.
- Ability to:
- Meet all the employment requirements of full-time faculty at Bethany University.
- Follow through with tasks in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist in the development of an academic program based on planning and assessment.
- Work in a collegial manner with faculty in the School of Theological Studies and with other faculty in the University.
- Consult with the University Provost and/or Assemblies of God leaders concerning matters related to the Center for Ministry Studies.
Essential Responsibilities
- Teaching 24 units per year (or their equivalent) in the School of Theological Studies, with emphasis in Church Leadership.
- Developing and overseeing the Center for Ministry Studies (which may extend the faculty contract from nine months to ten).
- Consulting with the University Provost and/or representatives from the Northern California and Nevada District of the Assemblies of God in the development of the Center for Ministry Studies.
- Revising/developing curriculum to advance the Church Leadership program.
- Advising students concerning program requirements and professional development.
- Assisting in the recruitment and retention of students for the School of Theological Studies.
- Interfacing with the University through committee assignments and other duties.
- Participating in the spiritual life of the University through chapel attendance and other activities.

Salary / Compensation
Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience (in keeping with the faculty salary grid of the University). Compensation includes a generous benefits plan.
