Bethany University is a regionally-accredited, comprehensive Christian university founded in 1919, and affiliated with the Northern California and Nevada District of the Assemblies of God. The University mission provides for Biblically-centered education, preparing excellently trained leaders for the Church and Society. Approximately 600 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs in the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Professional Studies, the School of Theological Studies, and in non-traditional programs for adult learners under the auspices of the School of Distributed Learning. Bethany University is served by a highly-credentialed faculty dedicated to teaching, to the integration of faith and learning, and to the translation of Christian belief into global service.
Admission is restricted to applicants who understand and concur with the school's published values and demonstrate compatibility with its objectives.
Academic requirements at Bethany conform to the standards established by the Senior Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). In addition, all graduates must have completed a sequence of courses in Bible and theology. See the section on Academics for complete information about the school's programs. They include a breadth of offerings, including ministerial majors with various emphases, business and management, counseling, music, drama, and intercultural studies, among other offerings.
Bethany professors have graduate degrees from major universities, including the University of California, Stanford University, the University of Washington, Claremont Graduate School, Fuller Theological Seminary, and the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley.
