What a joy to welcome you to the beautiful campus of Bethany University!
Today, I am delighted to report to you that the vision of Robert and Mary Craig remains alive and vibrant at Bethany! Bethany was founded in 1919 as the training school for Glad Tidings Temple, an urban church pastored by Robert and Mary Craig in San Francisco, California.
Since 1947, Bethany has been operated as the official leadership preparation school of the Assemblies of God, Northern California and Nevada District. The institution was moved to its present site in the Santa Cruz mountains in 1950 and became a four-year degree granting college in 1955 changing its name to Bethany Bible College at that time.
Bethany received accreditation with the American Association of Bible Colleges in 1959 and received regional accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in 1966.
In 1990 the name was changed to Bethany College of the Assemblies of God, and was later designated with University status in 2005. Bethany has the distinction of being the oldest accredited Assemblies of God University in the world!
Bethany University is comprised of four separate schools that enable it to fulfill its mission: The School of Theological Studies, the School of Arts and Sciences, The School of Professional Studies, and the School of Distributed Learning.
Bethany University gives Christ preeminence in all things, providing side by side exceptional biblical-centered education in Theology, the Arts and Humanities, the Sciences, and the Professional Fields, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Our students are marked by the ongoing development of their Character, Leadership, Ministry, Intercultural awareness, and Professional excellence!
Bethany University is here to serve you! And so, once again, Welcome to Bethany University!
