Degree Competencies

Students who complete the Psychology program at Bethany University will be able to:

  1. Understand human nature from a psychological, social and multicultural Christian worldview.
  2. Integrate their Christian faith and ethics with sound psychological and theological principles.
  3. Demonstrate personal maturity, growth and development.
  4. Apply the basis principles of human development in making recommendations about child, adolescent and adult development.
  5. Conduct a personality evaluation using knowledge of appropriate theories, standardized tests and a well developed set of personal insights.
  6. Apply scientific principles to the study and pursuit of psychological knowledge.
  7. Demonstrate the writing style and skills required for professional publication.
  8. Demonstrate the human relations knowledge and skills required for entry level positions in psychology, the human services and related fields.
  9. Develop the foundation for further graduate work in psychology, counseling or social work.
