 Small class sizes

The student:faculty ratio at Bethany
is 11:1, a ratio that means you are
known to your professors as an

 Personalized classes

At Bethany, you are encouraged to
develop your own literary tastes. After
a broad introduction to literary history
and development, students have the
opportunity to create their own classes,
focusing on their own literary interests.

 Literary field trips

English classes at Bethany are
often supplemented with field
trips. Past trips have included
Paris, France; Ashland, Oregon;
Los Angeles; San Francisco; the
Stienbeck Museum in Salinas;
and the Rodin musuem at Stanford
University.

 Scholarly Excellence

Students at Bethany have produced
outstanding work, which has been
recognized by publishers and scholarly
organizations, such as the Modern
Language Association and the Norton's Scholar's Prize.

 Creative Classes

Classes in the English department
have included hands-on lessons,
including a variety of artistic and
dramatic interpretations.
