Academic Policies and Procedures for the M.A. With Credential

Transferring Credits for Credential Courses

Students having taken professional educational course work at Bethany University or any other regionally accredited college up to a limit of nine units may apply course work toward Bethany's Master of Arts in Education Teaching Credential Program as applicable. The coursework must have been satisfactorily completed no more than three years prior to the date of enrollment or re-enrollment in Bethany's Program.

Note: No Continuing Education Units will be accepted for meeting Level I credential or M.A. Requirements.

Students desiring to be recommended for a California Teaching Credential by Bethany University must complete a minimum of 12 units of course work at Bethany University and at least six (6) units of supervised student teaching. If course work being transferred in meets the basic credential requirements, students may enroll in other courses to enhance their credential, such as English, Math or Science courses which would be applicable to a supplemental authorization.

Transferring Credit for M.A. Courses:

A maximum of nine (9) graduate semester units may be transferred from previous graduate level work from other accredited colleges or universities with the approval of the Graduate Council. To be accepted for transfer credit, a course from another institution must be determined by the Graduate Council to cover essentially the same material as a similar course on campus. A syllabus, other course materials, and an interview related to the course content, may need to be provided to facilitate assessment of equivalence.
