If a student remains continuously enrolled, they have four years to complete the Master of Arts. Students who have not completed the program after four years of continuous enrollment must submit to the Graduate Council an appeal for additional time in the program which includes a proposed timeline for program completion. If California Commission on Teacher Credentialing requirements change during the time the student is enrolled, candidates will also have to meet those new requirements. Students who have not completed their credential requirements or MA requirements and have not been enrolled in classes for a year or more must reapply to the program. The Graduate Council will review their file and determine their eligibility for readmittance. If California Commission on Teacher Credentialing requirements or program requirements change during the time the student is not enrolled, candidates will have to meet those new requirements. The Graduate Council will determine what coursework will be accepted, must be retaken, or what additional coursework or field work/student teaching must be completed.
