Student Teaching
Advancement to Student Teaching
Student teaching requires that the candidate's competencies be at a level where success within the classroom is highly likely. The TEP Graduate Council reviews each candidate's progress in relation to CCTC standards and professional experience to determine the candidate's readiness.
Prerequisites for Student Teaching include:
- Completion of the student teaching application
- A GPA of 3.0 in professional credential coursework
- Completion of all prerequisite coursework
- EDUC 5703 Curriculum & Instructional Design
- EDUC 5113 or EDUC 5133 Foundations in Literacy
- EDUC 5401 Classroom Management
- EDUC 5922 or EDUC 5932 Supervised Field Experience
- EDUC 5803 Language Acquisition and Classroom Practice
- Satisfactory recommendation from two faculty in the credential program and their field supervisor
- CBEST verification card indicating all sections have been passed
- Verification of completion of subject matter competency (CCTC approved program or passing scores on the relevant SSAT or CSET exams)
- Interview with the TEP Graduate Council
- Demonstration of professional behavior
- Certificate of Clearance received
- Approval by the TEP Graduate Council
- Other requirements as stipulated by the TEP Graduate Council
