| Scotts Valley, CA. Andrew “Drew” Snelgrove has been named the 15th head men’s basketball coach in Bethany University history, Assistant Athletic Director Michael Carpenter announced on Friday, June 6th.
“With the recent improvements to Bethany’s Athletic infrastructure, the addition of Drew Snelgrove as the new Men’s Basketball Coach while continuing with his role as the Director of Athletics will hopefully be viewed years from now as the turning point in the history of Bethany University’s program.
Snelgrove brings 18 years of coaching experience, 11 years as a high school coach, and three years as an Assistant coach in the NAIA and one year as an Assistant Coach at the NCAA Division I level.
The 39-year old continues at Bethany after spending the last two years as Bethany University’s Director of Athletics, while continuing to direct NBA Summer Basketball Camps. “I am encouraged to have the opportunity to continue the legacy that Coach (Dan) Mooney has set. He brought Christian values back into the forefront of athletics at Bethany,” said Snelgrove. “So now I have that opportunity to move forward and I am going to do my best to fulfill the dream.”
A strong teacher of the game and recruiter, Snelgrove’s connections should help continue to bring the talent to Bethany University. “People in the community and throughout California, say that Bethany has tremendous potential and I agree.” said Snelgrove.
Snelgrove served as an assistant coach at Bethany University (1994-96) for former NBA All-Star John Block, Sacramento State (2002-03) for Jerome Jenkins and William Jessup (2004-05) with Aaron Muhic. From 1996-2002, Snelgrove ended his tenure at Capital Christian High School with a CIF North Section Championship, two CIF Northern California Final Four appearances and with the most wins in Capital Christian’s history.
Andrew and Linda have been married for 18 years and have two sons Devin(9), and Derryn(7).
