Bethany University has hired Michael Carpenter to be the new Head Coach for the Softball team for the 2006-2007 season. Carpenter was previously the Assistant Coach for Bethany University for the past 5 years. Carpenter brings both experience and recruiting success to Bethany, where he is continuing his excellent work taking Bruin softball to the next level.
Carpenter played his collegiate baseball at Reedley College, Fresno City College, Oral Roberts University and then transferred to Fresno State. After many injuries, Carpenter transferred to Bethany University to be the teams Most Valuable Player in the inaugural season of Bethany Baseball.
Hopes and expectations are high for the new softball program at Bethany. "We have a plan to recruit the highest quality of person with great academic achievement and excellent athletic ability. We have a great core group of players, but my commitment to excellence mixed in with solid recruiting, and community support, will go along way in building the bridge to success at Bethany." says Carpenter.
Carpenter worked quickly to hire one of Bethany’s own, bringing former Bruin Hailey Stopperan, who as a Bruin was an Academic All-American for 4 years.
Carpenter is single and resides in Scotts Valley.
