Roth places 14th in William Jessup Invitational
Sep. 17 - Michelle Roth finished 14th in a time of 22:12.29 on the dusty rolling course of William Jessup University. A total of 41 women competed in the 5k race on a warm breezy Saturday morning. Roth was the 2nd place finisher of the schools competing from the Cal Pac Conference. She also broke into the ranks of CSU Stanislaus, Sonoma State and CSU Monterey Bay.
The previous weekend Ashley Watkins and Roth were off to a fast start for their 2005 season opener at the Aggie Invite. On a unusually cool brisk overcast morning, 92 runners competed in the women’s 5K race at the Wildhorse Golf Course navigating their way up rolling grassy hills around water hazards and sand traps. Watkins and Roth both competed against several NCAA schools such as San Jose State, Cal, UC Davis, Sacramento State and Sonoma State. Watkins finishing 31st just behind her conference rival of last fall in a time of 19:41.60. Roth faired well considering she was fighting the congestion of a nagging cold, finishing 66th in a time of 21:33.10.
Both Roth and Watkins will be competing next Saturday at the Stanford Cross Country Invitational @ 5:15pm over a 6K course in Palo Alto.
