Watkins
caps off a winning season with Academic All American Honors

| Nov.23 - Ashley Watkins competed in the NAIA National Cross Country Meet on Saturday November 19th in Louisville, Kentucky with her teammate Michelle Roth, coach Ron Marsh and wife. Watkins finished the 5K course in 19:37 placing 129th. The flat and fast course at EP Sawyer Park hosted 259 of the NAIA’s fastest female runners from all over the nation. Ashley found herself in good company at the meet as an average of 15 runners finished within 10 seconds of each other. Weather didn’t seem to be a problem even though temperatures dipped into the 20’s the evening prior to the race. | ||||||
| Ashley also received the NAIA All American Scholar Athlete Award for maintaining her outstanding GPA while competing at the national level. She was recognized with other athletes from around the nation at Friday’s awards ceremony. | ||||||
| The national meet was a first for Watkins and Bethany University. Armed with experience, knowledge and support from the University, Watkins and Roth eagerly set their sites on returning next year. | ||||||
