Watkins Caps off a Winning Season with All American Honors
Ashley Watkins attended the NAIA National Cross Country Meet on Saturday November 19th in Louisville, Kentucky with her teammate Michelle Roth, coach Ron Marsh and wife. Despite suffering from severe cold and lower leg soreness, Watkins finished the 5K course in 19:37 placing 129th. The flat and fast course at EP Sawyer Park hosted 259 of the NAIA's fastest female runners from all over the nation. Ashley found herself in good company at this meet as an average of 15 runners finish within 10 seconds of each other. Weather didn't seem to be a problem even though temperatures dipped into the 20's the evening prior to the race.
Ashley also received the NAIA All American Scholar Athlete Award for maintaining her outstanding GPA while competing at the national level. She was recognized with other athletes from around the nation at Friday's awards ceremony.
The national meet was a first for Watkins and Bethany University. Armed with experience, knowledge and support from the University, Watkins and Roth eagerly set their sites on returning next year.

The Bruins get it done
B U 3 games NDNU 1.
The Bruins upset Div. II Notre Dame Namur University tonight in Scotts Valley.B U Jumped up and took an early 2 game win before losing the 3rd game due to mental fatigue. But after a brief intermission the Bruins roared back with outstanding setting from Kat Durnbaugh and the consistent kills from Katie Meledy and Christine Axtell. Also stepping up their play tonight to take any hope away from the Argos, was Angela Holme and freshmen phenom Andrea Olmstead. On paper NDNU Head coach Devin Grant seem to have the advantage with senior 5'11 setter Kristine Everett to complement 4 young and talented six footers in the middle. But, Bethany University Head coach Veronica Cortese motivated the Bruins to work the plan to perfection, as the Bruins Defeat the visiting NDNU Argonauts for the first time in school history.

Bethany University Athlete Selected to Represent the United States of America
The Netherlands Olympic Committee recently named the USA Athletes College Basketball team that is traveling to Utrecht, Netherlands (Holland) from
May 23-31, 2006 to compete in the 2006 Mega Invitational Basketball Tournament (MIT). It is an excellent event that fosters international goodwill and friendship among nations, as well as promoting the game of basketball.
Brian Waugh was selected to be apart of the USA Athletes International team. The mission of the team is to give amateur athletes an opportunity to participate in sporting events in the international theater, while also allowing them to broaden their educational and cultural knowledge of the world through the experience.
With the exception of the U.S. Olympic program, there are few opportunities for athletes to experience the competition, history and culture of other countries on an international level. We salute Brian Waugh and pray blessings on his experience.
