Frequently Asked Questions

How do I log in to FirstClass?

You can log in to FirstClass from either the FirstClass client or the FirstClass web interface.

The FirstClass client is installed on all Bethany University-owned computers, including the Student Lab computers. Just double-click the FirstClass icon on the Windows desktop. You can also download and install the client from www.firstclass.com to your personal computer.

The FirstClass web interface is easily accessible from the Bethany University website at www.bethany.edu.

Who is eligible to receive a FirstClass account?

All current staff, faculty, and students are eligible to receive a Bethany University FirstClass account.

I installed the FirstClass client on my computer, but still can't log in.

Please make sure that you have added the server setting. On the FirstClass client login window, click on the "Setup" button. On the "Server:" line, type fc.bethany.edu, then click on the "Save" button. Enter your User ID and Password and click the "Login" button.

How do I change my FirstClass password?

Log in to FirstClass.

From the FirstClass client, click on the "Colaborate" menu and choose "Change Password". Type your Old (current) Password once and your New Password twice, then click OK.

From the FirstClass web interface, click on "Preferences" in the left window pane. Click "Change Password" in the left window pane. Type your Old Password once and your New Password twice. Click on the "Save" button.

How do I use the Calendar on my FirstClass dektop?

You can use your personal Calendar to schedule and remind you of events, meetings, appointments, classes, exams, etc.

To schedule an event, right-click on the calendar day that you wish to schedule and choose "New Event". In the New Calendar Event window, type an Event title and location. Select a start and end times. Use the drop-down menus to select "Category", "Show as", and "Color".

Click on the "Scheduling" tab to insert participants (those whom you designate to view your Calendar Event. Click on the "Reminder" tab to send a reminder message prior to the event time.

Exit from the "New Calendar Event" window to finish scheduling your new event.
