The mission of the Student Life Program at Bethany is to provide services, programs and facilities that enhance the quality of education by extending the learning environment beyond the classroom and into the co-curricular lives of Bethany students. Our team seeks to provide leadership in building a community that fosters educational growth, builds moral and spiritual character, and assists the college in meeting its five student outcomes: character, leadership, ministry, intercultural awareness and professional excellence.

Accordingly, it is our philosophy to work with a collaborative and cooperative spirit with all segments of the University to enhance the worth, dignity, potential, spiritual authenticity and uniqueness of each individual.

The co-curricular programs of the Student Life Team can be divided into the following key areas (detail will be added):

Rusty St Cyr, Director for Spiritual Formation & Campus Ministries

We view Spiritual Formation as an adventure in experiential learning from not only God, but also from what (and whom) God has created. At Bethany, we work to see students, as well as the faculty and staff, experience our spiritual formation "paths" not only crossing, but coming together for this leg of the adventure.

Campus Ministries exists to partner with the Spirit of God in cultivating an environment at Bethany University, which would engage the entire community in this "Spiritual Formation" adventure and life-transformation with God.Campus Ministries, in working-harmony with Student Life, consists of quality people and programming which serve to cultivate a Biblical, learning community characterized by:

  • Worshipful Attitudes:
    • Brianna Diaz :: point-person for theWomen's Discipleship Team
    • Andrew Elledge :: point-person for theMen's Discipleship Team
  • Worshipful Actions:
    • Lindsay Jensen :: point-person for the Local Service-Learning Team
    • Lacey Nelson :: point-person for the Global Service-Learning Team

Campus facilities for students:

Women's' Dorms

Gerhart & Harp Halls

Welcome to the Hill! The rooms up here tend to be the most coveted ones by ladies on-campus because they are large, with updated decor and fabulous views of the Scotts Valley redwoods. Each floor has a lobby area that is warm and inviting with big comfy couches, a TV equipped with cable and a DVD player. Most nights ladies are found in their lobbies studying, bonding over their favorite reality show or catching up on events of the day. Generally, our facilities (Harp and Gerhart halls) are home to about 75 upper class women from all backgrounds, colors, interests and giftings. Relationships are built that last well beyond the time spent here at Bethany. If you are on-campus visiting please stop by and check out life on the Hill!
